GHOST LEANERS

from fence planks

I wanted to make some Halloween Ghost Leaners.

These are used to sit about anywhere you need some decorations,

but without nailing, pushing into the ground or hanging them.

They are easy leaners.

I first just rounded off the tops of a bunch

of varying sizes of fence planks with a jigsaw.

Then I freehanded some quirky "boo" faces on each

and just cut them out.

I also made a few square pumpkin lanterns

with the same wood while I was working.

Here's a group pic of them all.

Then I went and propped them up,

spray painting each side in a Rustoleum white.

This will help seal the wood for a good while also.

And since Christmas is just about 3 weeks ahead,

here's and idea of how you can paint those extra,

vintage Christmas tree bulbs.

I just made a circle in white, painted a little face,

sprinkled it all with spatter white for snow,

and added a wire hanger and some greenery.

Fun with Halloween Labels

It’s that time again! Time to add a lil creepy to our homes. And this year I did something new. I ordered some sticky Halloween themed labels from ebay, (because I didn’t feel like going out and buying the sticker paper & buying images on Etsy at the moment.) So it was just because I wanted the easy way out, or I’d have taken the time to do so. lol.

I made a lil box of things with labels to go in my Peddlers Mall booth as well. Here they are after I used what I needed, I packaged the left over labels up for sale in my booth also. So people can put them on what they want, if they don’t like my pre-made items.

As you see, they are just basically pre-made stickers with cute Halloween themes. That’s it. Ready to stick. Just find an object to put them on. Here’s some more pics of how I used them below on an old medicine bottle, can of beans and a can of tuna. I just took off the original labels and stuck them right on.

 

And here’s a little display I made on the front porch. Note the cute little barn wood cabinet that my wonderful hubby Greg made! Gotta love a crafty man! 

I love these labels. So simple but they add a unique look for my decorations. I need to go snap some pics of the yard and area my husband decorates. I may add some later on, if I can remember.

HALLOWEEN MASON JAR LID ORNAMENTS

Hey Ya'll.

Who's in the mood for some Halloween Mason Jar Lid ornaments?

I know I sure am!

These stemmed off from the idea of my Snowman Mason Jar Lid ornaments you see below:

 Here's how I made them in case you want to give it a go. 

If you don't have any on hand, here's how they look in boxes at Walmart.

I started out with a bunch of plain ole, used, metal Mason Jar lids in two sizes of

Regular: 2 2/4"

Wide Mouth: 3 3/4"

Some were new and shiny, some old and rusty. It doesn't matter to me.

And I spray painted them a base color in various shades of green and maroon that I had on hand.

For the Fall ones I was doing today, I stuck with the Satin Green.

The white was used for speckling (snow) only because it's a cheaper can and doesn't cover good.

Here are the Rustoleum and Valspar that cover great in one coat:

After they dry, they are a flat, softer color. Then we're ready to get started painting with craft paint.

My favorite brand is Folk Art but I do have a lot of Apple Barrel on hand too.

I just kinda looked at some magazines I had on hand to get ideas of decorations for the pumpkins.

And then just free handed the rest. Any fall or Halloween themed ideas would work great on these!

After letting all the paint dry for a bit, I decided to start adding the wire hangers.

I happened to have a metal punch on hand, but you can easily use a hammer and a nail to punch a hole in each side for a wire.

Then I took some homespun pieces I had laying around, in as close a match as possible and just tied them on.

And here they are all ready to go in my co-op and my ebay shop.

On this pumpkin, I used Elmers Glue underneath a quick off white color to give the almost crackle look.

OLD CROW VINTAGE CABINET AND HALLOWEEN JARS

I'm working on some Gingerbread men magnets made from music sheets to show ya'll in the next few days. But they aren't ready yet because 

I've had to finish up this Old Crow cabinet.

When I first won it at the auction (Sorry, in a hurry to paint, I did not take a complete before photo!) for $8.00 it was an almost sea-foam, glossy green inside and out. 

This photo makes the color look way prettier than it was.

But I went ahead and painted the outside a deeper Olive green.

The top of it was the most time consuming. Someone had put that sticky tile on the top, meant for floors, and it was a devil to get off.  I could've used strong stripper but that stuff really aggravates my breathing. So I opted for just scraping and chipping.

I even got so tired of scraping that I decided to try the music sheet cover up for the top.

But that went horribly wrong....

So I pulled it off quick before it dried....

And I just started scraping more and more. I finally got it down to this and I did a light sanding on it.

That way it left some black tint to the edges and I added some black streaks to the front and sides.

And I used my stencils to stencil on some OLD CROW GAME CO wording with an old crow in the middle.

And then sanded a lot of the edges and it was all finally coming together.

I went ahead and added detail to the inside too with stencils.

 And I left the original inside color the same.

And here it finally was.

with the decent top,

It doesn't show it, but the top is now smooooooth from the sanding.

Before I go, thought I'd share a few pics from around our lil' neck of the woods.

Take a look at this little squirrel I spotted running down a tree. I guess he's out gathering some nuts now that the cold is on it's way.

The turkeys are rambling around my yard looking for the last of the berries.

These little chicks that I bought early this year, in Spring, 

That's my dog watching over them. She thinks she's still their momma.

have grown up

and have just began to pay for their keep.

Here's my very first 2 eggs!
