Here's my Easy Solar Ghost - perfect for your porch or sidewalk for Halloween:
What you need (all Dollar Tree / Walmart / Big Lots finds):
1 solar pathway light - the cheap $1.25 ones with the stake
1 white plastic/glass jug with lid for the head - I used a recycled marshmallow cream jar here.
1 white trash bag of desired size or an old white sheet cut into a 24"x24" square
A Black permanent marker for eyes or 2 black craft paint dots or stick-on googly eyes painted black
(Hot glue gun + scissors if needed)
How I make it:
Prep the head
Take your solar light apart - pull the top solar part off the stake, turn it upside down. Set the solar light top right down inside/on top of it so the solar panel faces up. Screw the lid back on to hold in place.
Make it glow
The trick is the solar light shines up through the white trash bag at night. Make sure the panel can still reach some sun.
Drape your ghost
Take your trash bag, find the middle, and drape it right over the solar top. Let it hang natural and spooky. I like to trash bag because it's kinda see-through and glows so pretty.
Give him a face
Use a Sharpie if you're in a hurry. Do it right on the trash bag so the light shines through the face at night.
Hang him out
Hang him out on a shepherds hook or a limb somewhere or
Push the stake part into the ground or into a small flower pot filled with rocks, and set your ghost head on top. During the day it charges, at night - BOO! - he glows all by himself.
Tips:
Make a family! 3 different heights is adorable along a walkway
Sell price: I do $7.99 - $9.99 for one, and they cost me about $1.50 to make.
Super easy, no wiring, and the solar part means no batteries to change.
